Spatial audio changes what's possible in an immersive environment. When sound can move on all three axes, not just left and right but height and depth, the relationship between audio and visual becomes a design system rather than two parallel tracks.
VSS has implemented L-Acoustics L-ISA spatial audio across immersive installations including PYRA, running 18 channels over Dante. The speaker system is mapped in a 3D environment for audio routing. Sound placement is refined through a bidirectional workflow with the visual team. Content loops fed back and forth until the spatial positioning is right. Everything locked to time code.
The result is an experience where the sound and the light are designed together from the start. Not mixed at the end.
Common Questions
Every brief starts with a detailed conversation about the context, the venue, and the audience. We develop the design from the physical reality of the space, not from a library of pre-existing solutions.
VSS works from intimate gallery installations through to arena-scale productions. The scale of the project does not change the rigour of the process. We apply the same approach whether the brief is for 200 people or 20,000.
The earlier the better. Our ability to influence the design and technical specification is greatest at the earliest stage. We are experienced in working with incomplete briefs and can contribute to the development of the concept as well as the delivery.
